Children’s Program

This program provides interim residential care services to street children and orphans whose cases need more time for resolution. In the residential care centre the children are provided with protection and education services for their welfare and development.

Detailed below is how the situation is on the ground with only few schools that are used as sample for the wider picture that will be determined later when a research will be conducted.

Children at risk of dropping out from schools – Kilimanjaro region.
At Manushi Juu Primary School 24 pupils are at risk of dropping out from school because they lack school uniforms and other costs.At Lambo Extended Primary School 42 pupils are at risk of dropping out from school because they lack school uniforms and other costs.At Pasua Primary School 129 pupils are at risk of dropping out from school because they lack school uniforms and other costs.
Street Children in Moshi town – Kilimanjaro region.
In Moshi town there are currently 3 centers with a combined capacity of 170 children that offer care services, yet there are currently 169 full time children on the streets in Moshi town. This means that 169 children on the street in Moshi town have limited chances of gaining entry into residential care centers for their protection and education services.
Orphan children – Kilimanjaro region.
At Manushi Chini primary school there are 40 orphan pupils (25 girls and 15 boys) who do not attend at school because they lack school requirements such as uniforms and other costs.At Umbwe primary school there are 15 orphan pupils (8 girls and 7 boys) who do not attend at school because they lack school requirements such as uniforms and other costs and even at their homes they do not access their basic needs such as food, cloth and shelter.At Kimanganuni primary school there are 32 orphan pupils (14 girls and 18 boys) who do not attend at school because they lack school requirements such as uniforms and other costs. Also they do not access basic needs at their homes.
Other vulnerable children – Kilimanjaro region.
At Umbwe primary school there are 50 pupils (30 girls and 20 boys) who do not attend at school because they lack school requirements and their parents can not afford to fulfill these requirements such as school uniforms and other school costs.At Kimanganuni primary school there are 10 pupils (4 girls and 6 boys) pupils who do not attend at school because they lack school requirements and their parents can not afford to fulfill these requirements such as school uniforms and other school costs.
It costs 40 US Dollars a year to take one child to these primary schools.

It costs 70 US Dollars a month for one street child or an orphan to access
